Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Verifier

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Verifier

Now Available

CSA Standards is now accepting applications for the GHG Verifier certification.

As new GHG emission programs and policies are implemented, one of the major challenges to industry is the shortage of qualified professionals who are needed to measure and account for the accuracy and validity of GHG assertions.

In an effort to bring standardization to the practice of GHG verification, CSA Standards has responded to this challenge with its Certified GHG Verifier program

To get started, you can:

  • Gain a certification developed by industry experts
The development of the voluntary certification was led by CSA Standards with the assistance of industry stakeholders, including The Climate Registry, California Climate Action Registry, California Air Resources Board, Chicago Climate Exchange, Ohio EPA., as well as subject-matter experts from organizations across North America.
  • Certification vs. Accreditation?
Designed to complement accreditation programs for verification bodies, including American National Standard Institute's Greenhouse Gas Accreditation Program, CSA Standards' certification is the first program in North America for individuals who wish to demonstrate that they possess the competencies to conduct verifications of GHG emissions. CSA Standards' program has been developed and will be operated and maintained under the structure of ISO 17024 Conformity assessment - general requirements for bodies operating certification of persons.
  • Who can become a Certified GHG Verifier?
Candidates will need to possess an in-depth knowledge of GHG fundamentals, climate change science principles, as well as generally accepted protocols, standards and methodologies. They will also be required to provide documented GHG and auditing experience as well as achieving pass score on the certification exam.

For guidance on the certification process, download a copy of the candidate handbook.

CSA offers the exam in English and French. A French version of the program handbook is available for download on this page.
